I am not what you might call a "fashion plate," and not just because I don't put on outfits by rubbing crayon over raised plastic drawings. I like things that are comfortable and functional, and that preferably don't touch my body too closely. Yes, I am talking about fun pants. Over the years my fashion choices have been misunderstood and mocked, mostly by my sisters, Tara, and my friend Murphy -- who started his mocking before we even knew each other.
Murphy and I met when we lived in the same apartment building in D.C. It was an L shaped building, which meant Murphy and I could see each others apartments from our windows. Now, at the time I was sarcastic and judgy, but I had nothing on Murph. He had formulated named for everyone in the apartments he could see. There was "lonely computer boy," "three way girl" (she lived up to her name), "sex on the floor girl," and me: "lesbian overall girl." I earned the name because I never had male friends over (I was horrible at dating) and I liked, no, loved, my overalls. Even after we met, and I had boyfriends, he kept the name for me.
I still do love my overalls. I would love it even more if I could fit my ass in them without looking like a joke involving Lynyrd Skynyrd. Luckily, Meg looks great in them, and is finally big enough to wear a pair...
See that smile? I sent that picture to Murph and he said he was calling child services -- or "What Not To Wear." Cynic.
If only he knew ow much she loves the Indigo Girls, and Crocs. Then he would understand...

She does look adorable in them! But I have a feeling she would look adorable in just about anything...
First of all, he was Lonely TV Boy. He lived next door to Party Girl. They were both so sad and lonely and spent many a sad night alone... seperated by a wall, not know their perfect match was inches away. Then they moved out and Sex on The Floor and Three Way moved in and the building got much more fun.
But Lesbian Overall Girl earned her name like none other. You see, most of them only did something once to earn their nickname but you... You wore those things every day. And had a horrible haircut. If there was anybody who needed a sassy gay friend, it was you.
I love a baby in overalls. Mea had several pairs, in many sizes, until potty training got in the way, damn buckles! Meg looks adorable as ever! Is her hair long enough for some piggie tails? That would complete the look!
Did you have any white/ black/ pastel overalls? That is the real litmus test.
Hahahah lesbian overall girl! That's hilarious.
And Meg obviously loves her overalls...deal with it Dad!
I had a pair of red overalls when I was a kid. Loved them, lived in them.
I have to say, in your defense, that I am pleased that you have not donned overalls for quite a while. Crocs, well that is another fashion hurdle to conquer eventually.
I do not know why you & Murphy never had a sitcom created after you & your wacky adventurers...
Meggles is cute.
She is so adorable. I just want to knit for her.
My "fun pants" are mostly yoga pants. Although I am probably one of the people that others are talking about when they say that yoga pants are a priviledge, not a right.
Meg is so lucky she can rock the overalls. My whole life, I have not been able to get my pear self into those little wonders. And, oh, how I've wanted to.
Wow, I forgot about the haircut. Yeah, it was bad.
The best thing about babies in overalls is that when they're wearing them, they have a handle on their back. Good for when they're pukey or spitty or smelly. Also, they're totally fricking adorable.
I loved dressing my kids in overalls when they were little. We used to joke and say that we knew if they were quality by whether or not we could pick the kids up by the straps.
She is just adorable!!
Okay... so... I laughed out loud at this one. Especially since - until my friend Dory forced a make-over on me - I could have been dubbed "lesbian overall girl," too. Well, not now... because I'm married. But 12 years ago... yep.
Oh, and your daughter is adorable, too. Should have said that last time, but I was too busy laughing.
(And the Tongginator totally wore overalls her first two years home with us. She was so skinny, they were the only pants that would stay up... even leggings would sag to her knees.)
I adore overalls on little ones!
