Birthdayapalooza

I am officially birthdayed out.

The celebrations for Meg's first year went on for two days, and included a trip to the zoo, a family dinner, a birthday breakfast, a huge garden party with all of our friends, tons of gifts, a birthday parade (just kids in hats with bells, no Shiners), and a pizza dinner with Meg's beloved Meghan and Andrew.

I loved every minute of it, and found myself crying happy tears on multiple occasions just thinking about what joy Meg has brought to our lives over the past year, and the joy that is still to come. I wouldn't take a minute of it back. However, it has left me totally drained. So, you'll have to forgive me, but I am going to cop out, and just post pictures of Meg and her cake. I know it's what you all want to see anyway.

At first she wasn't quite sure about it...

And the sugar rush that came with the first bite startled her...

Soon though, she was diving right in...

And getting it EVERYWHERE!

So, in the end, there was nothing to do but dunk her in the baby pool to clean her off.

What an amazing girl. What a wonderful birthday. Now, I am going to go sleep for a month -- and then I will start planning next year's bash...

Ah yes...the beauty of a party for a one year old...more for the adults that for the child. :D

Yay! So fun! :) Did she have a chocolate hangover after that? I would expect so!

Meg has achieved my dream. And that dream is to eat chocolate cake while nearly nude as others look on, then getting cleaned off in the pool.

I have set a cake in front of both my kids for them to have at it on their first birthdays. I think that is the best way to celebrate. Adorable pictures, Libby!

Children's birthday's are exhausting! Children's disco's are knackering too. I always say I'm not going to do anymore kids disco's and then I do.

Looks like a great way to remove the chocolate cake anyway! Did you do the same thing? :D

Glad that everyone survived. On Mea's "first" birthday home, she was 2, my husband backed his minivan into my PARKED suv. $4000 in damages to the 2 vehicles. A great way to start off the festivites.

Get some rest, hope Meg had lots of fun!

I wish my birthday involved cake and kiddie pools. I haven't had one of those parties since I got out of college. Congrats!

Next year, I am having a kiddie pool for my birthday too. Done.

I had to look at that cake for longer than 10 seconds before I realized that it said, "one" and not "Dre."

Happy birthday Meg! You cutie.

I'm pretty sure I've had fantasies where I'm sitting in a pool stuffing an entire chocolate cake into my mouth, so GO MEG! And happy birthday. And why is she so darn adorable? I'm not supposed to like kids. Stop making a fool of me. :)

She is precious, and looks like she loved her celebration. This reminds me how sad I am that, after toddlerhood, it becomes so socially unacceptable to dive face first into birthday cake. A darn shame if you ask me.

Hey, that's just like Vegas!
Man I love cake, and pools, and parties.
I like how you extended the celebration past the one day mark and went for a multiple day extravaganza.

I love the cake even all over the grown-up arms.....

Nothing like that first birthday... in a birthday suit!

Congrats.

THAT is how I'm eating MY next cake. Outside, in my undies, with a pool waiting RIGHT next to me to wipe me off! EXCELLENT!!!

I just want to squeeze her.

And I wore the same outfit on my last birthday--how strange!

Holy cow, I cannot believe that she is a year old already!! She is GORGEOUS!!

And, on a side note, if you don't mind me asking...Does Meg have an umbilical hernia? Both of my kidlet had them.

I am sorry I missed the dear little one's birthday. She's going to start a trend of chocolate cake eating in paddling pools, you know that, right? What an absolute character! Happy Belated Birthday Meg XXXX
