Can't Fight Comfort

I am not the snappiest of dressers. Most days I wear a variation of my uniform, and I only wear heels on very special occasions, or when I am feeling like a masochist. I just can't understand the whole heel wearing thing. Yes, wearing them makes me taller, which is excellent considering I am only three inches away from technically being a little person. And yes, they make my legs better, because they force all of the leg's muscles to flex, creating a more pleasing line. However, they also make me want to cry because they hurt my Flintstones like feet so much. So, I stick to Crocs.

There is a woman in my office, Candice, who, unlike me, is always dressed fashionably, from her head to he her toes. She is the kind of co-ordinates her jewelry with her clothes, and shoes. Oh, and she wears heels. Almost every day she has on a different pair of heels. Most are of the garden variety, with a one or two inch rise, but yesterday, she went for the gusto -- and was wearing these beauties.

Just looking at them makes me start to whimper. So, Candice was enjoying her day, looking very put together, towering over everyone around her, and walking only short distances. Then, the unthinkable happened. It was time to go get lunch. She started out the door, only to come hobbling back a few moments later, defeated by her beautiful shoes. So, we made a deal...I think she looks nice in my Crocs. Very European. She asked me if I wanted to wear her heels while she was gone, but I was very content just to pad around the newsroom barefoot for a half hour until she came back. I don't think anyone even noticed I wasn't wearing shoes. Or maybe they all just hate Crocs so much they were happy not to look at them. No matter what they look like though, they are the ultimate comfort shoe. And sometimes that is just what you need.

Just ask Candice.

Burn those damn things.

I am no fashionista but even I draw the line at plastic shoes for adults. Just because you no longer care about sex doesn't mean your shoes have to advertise it.

I can't believe Candice sunk so low. Those (cute) heels must have been REALLY painful.

My Hubster would divorce me if I even mentioned the word Crocs.

I love my crocs. I know, I used to be one of those I'll-Never-Stoop-So-Low people... until the ones with the fuzzy lining came out. Then I got sucked in to the comfort of crocs. I'm pretty sure I conceived while wearing them. ;)

I wear crocs sandals all the time and they are the most comfortable things ever. I have to get the crocs wedges next. But I haven't quite been able to do the clogs, though. I feel like I'm all feet when I try them on.

Yeah - I can't do the Crocs. I don't mind them on my kids, but not having it for me.

*ahem* I'm sure they look adorable on you though!

I knew I liked you for *some* reason. This must be it. Get down with your comfie-ass shoes self, sista! Oh, and you are NOT allowed anywhere near my closet. I'm just saying.

The Rubber Menace needs to be stopped. I am so disappointed in Sally, I thought I had trained her to eat all crocs on site.

I want a retraction! Libby knows I rarely wear heels, which is why I can't walk in them. It's either the brown flats, black flats or Vans and Libby knows exactly what shoes I am talking about.

I used to wear beautiful heels all the time when I had a job outside the home. Now, I have an impressive collection of flip flops, which are the Croc's poor country cousins.

Love it!

I rarely wear heels, maybe once every couple of years. They're so impractical, and are basically crippling, imagine trying to run for your life in fricken heels? Also I do Tai Chi with a bunch of old ladies who are really weak and off balance because of wearing bad shoes for decades, I don't want to be crippled as a youngish woman for beauty, or as a weak old woman prone to falling over, no thanks. I'm more into sneakers and flats, but if crocs take care of your feet, that's what matters! Must also be a where you live kinda thing, I live on a small rural hippy island and no one here wears heels daily, and crocs and birks are very common.

I would not wear those shoes if you paid me. But then again I've been wearing the same pair of ugly stinky birki's for 6 years. I don't do flip flops either. Or heels. In fact, I hate shoes altogether.
