Really? You Are Saying That?

People are assholes.

Yes, I know that was blunt, but really, that's what it boils down to. Today, among all of the coverage of the devastation in Japan, all the stories of people having to flee their homes or identify their dead children, there were also reports of how hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans had taken to the web to spout bullshit about how the quake and tsunami were karmic justice for the attacks on Pearl Harbor.

Yeah, I know. Assholes.

I know we all have free speech. I know the Internet makes it very easy to access it. I know that ignoring these trolls is the best justice. Oh, and I also know that if karma had anything to actually do with this tragedy that they better watch their backs -- and so should other "Americans" think God only has our backs.

What about Hiroshima? Or Cambodia? Or Vietnam? How about Bosnia? Or Iraq? We really better hope Karma doesn't know about Guantanamo Bay, or the black site prisons around the world. That would bring some serious shit down on our heads.

Well, except along the gulf coast. Karma owes those people.

I mean, except for those who really think this was all because of Pearl Harbor.

Yeah it's been grinding my gears for days all those assholes who bring Pearl Harbor or religion into it. Get over yourselves. That was a lifetime ago.

I say to those assbandits, "I can't believe you would be dumb enough to bring Pearl Harbor into it. Hello, Hiroshima and Nagasaki? You guys managed to wreak your Pearl Harbor revenge by wiping out entire cities of innocent people who had nothing to do with anything. Shut up."

Gah. Those poor people in Japan. Horrible.

Also horrible are the Christians who claim that their god did it to wipe out atheists or those who don't believe in their religion.

Well put Libby. It's been pissing me off to hear these comments, you said it better than I could have. Bravo.

Beautifully said, I couldn't agree more.

My heart goes out to the people in Japan.

I just cannot believe that anyone can look at the kind of pure horror of what can be seen and even start to spout off about anyone deserving any such thing. It's just sick. No one deserves to loose everything by a natural disaster. No one.

Thank you for this.

*shakes head sadly* Some days I just hate people.

Assholes.
Plus the morning after the earthquake, I turned on the news to see what was going on over there, and all anyone cared about was a dumb tsunami warning on the pacific coast. They kept showing footage of 5 foot waves in Santa Monica, and ooohing and aahing over it. Come on people!

Yes. I've been really getting fed up with the ignorant responses. Some from religious nuts saying that it was God shaking the world to the realization there is a God. I don't even know how one draws such stupid conclusions. Crazypants.

I'm trying not to freak out about my family in Japan but every time I see a Facebook post about it, I Google it, and then I go through the looking glass of MEDIA PANIC ATTACK!!!

Ugh.

Unless those people have had their hearts and eyes removed and placed in a little metal box on their nightstands, they can't be serious.

Everytime I look at the news I feel so sad and I can't believe anyone even survived a double disaster of this magnitude.

yep, those are the worst kind of assholes - ignorant, self-righteous assholes

Wow, "assholes" is putting it mildly. Complimenting them even.

Amazing how cowards can hide behind insults online.

Agreed. I think we took care of the Pearl Harbor karma ourselves in 1945. Assholes is a fine description.
