Oh, Mexico

For seven days I wore sandals, if I wore any shoes at all. Now it's back to big bulky boots so my toes don't freeze.

For seven days I smelled like sunscreen, salt, and ocean. Now I keep getting whiffs of mildew, and I think it might be me.

For seven days I watched whales and dolphins. I saw every sunrise and sunset. I chased little lizards and crabs while Meg squealed in delight. Now I will go back to watching the clock, and NBC "comedies."

For seven days I ate whatever I wanted, and drank beer no matter what time of day it was. Now I am back on my diet, and I doubt they will let me sip on Corona at my desk. It wouldn't taste as good anyway...

For seven days Meg and Ryan never left my sight. We giggled, and swam, and sang, and cuddled. Tomorrow Ryan and I go back to work, and Meg goes back to day care.

Oh, how I loved those seven days. Oh, how lucky I was to have them. Now I will let the memories sustain me until the next seven, next year.

Glad you had a good trip...but now that damn James Taylor chorus is stuck in my head.

I'm glad that wasn't a picture of Meg sipping a Corona. Isn't it the most disappointing feeling having to return to "real" life after a glorious vacation like that?

That was refreshing to read! I almost felt like I was there. In my mind. That counts for something, so thank you!

Ah, that sounds so wonderful - and how beautiful is Meg! She looks like she's a lot taller and I love the hat-rockin' pick.

Oh I do miss the beach! Looks like you had fun.

Your girl looks *good* on vacation. She was born to wear shades and big floppy hat. And flipflops. And a lizard.

The smell of the beach is one of the hardest things to leave behind.....

I'm so glad your back. I've missed your quips on the internetz throughout the day. Vacation looked glorious. The lizard picture is adorable. Also, I've noticed you suffer the same "no pictures of mommy" condition I do. I'm always behind the camera, and I delete all bad pictures of myself too.

Not only do I want to go to Mexico, but I want to take Meg with me! SO cute!

JEALOUS.

I think somewhere we got it all horribly wrong. Surely we shouldn't have a mere 7 days a year of bliss. Surely it should be the OTHER way around?
