Models are a Pain

I love Christmas cards. Every year I try to think up the most original way to wish people a happy holiday. I used to just humiliate the dog with my yuletide handiwork, but now that we have a baby it is so much better! I just wish they appreciated it as much as I do.

I am pretty sure that our dog, Sally, is in the witness relocation program, since she avoids having photos taken of her like the plague. I could understand her displeasure the years I made her wear hats, or a sash, but this year all she had to do was sit in the snow next to the baby. She sits next to the baby all the time, so I really didn't see the big deal. Once we got the camera out though, she couldn't get far enough away, and she didn't care how she had to do it.

Meg wasn't much help either, and she normally enjoys having her picture taken. Today though, her fascination with the snow outweighed her love of the lens, and she would everywhere BUT the camera. The addition of the snowsuit and gloves didn't help either, as she spent a large portion of the time trying to locate her hands and ears.

Did I mention it was totally freezing the entire time we were taking pictures? Oh, and that while Meg was bundled up, Ryan and I were idiots in just sweatshirts? Yeah, I'm lucky I still have fingers.

Both my Dad and I were shooting photos, and both of us had our cameras to take multiple pictures at a time. Out of all of those photos I think maybe one or two are usable. The rest just document the chaos.

It's all worth it though. Our cards, once again, will be awesome.

Those pics are so cute! It is supposed to snow here this week but not nearly as much as what you have. If it did, I'd be out there with a suit just like hers!

I love the second where Sally walks off as if to say "I've had enough this mate, now where's my warm bed and bone?"

I have to take pictures of my dog quickly, because she's the same way about the camera. I always joke that she thinks it's going to steal her soul.

Love these photos. And Meg is adorable.

So cute! Meg as always is super adorable.

The last couple of years I've been able to get Mack and Mea in matching PJ's in front of the Christmas tree. It's quite a chore finding PJ's in sizes for a toddler, and 5'10" young woman that match, and I think Mack thinks I'm a total dork. I may need to follow your lead, and go with a snow shot, if we ever get any snow this year...

I do the card pics too. As soon as I saw your title, I laughed! Thanks for sharing. I love the second one.

I love the first one too. It's Sally's total lack of commitment to the photo shoot that I adore. Also, Meg's snowsuit makes me unbelievable happy. I wonder if they make that in an adult size.

I once had all three on a beach in the fall to shoot the "family holiday photo" and all I got was Chuck Norris action pics of them beating the tar out of each other.
So then I upped the ante by screaming and telling them they ruined Christmas with their buffoonery.

I'm pretty sure that Meg's not being represented by the best possible company. Has she asked for more money? She needs to be compensated properly for her time. I am more than willing to make sure this happens in the future. Also, she would prefer to have her pictures taken in a tropical locale from now on.

Nice new look around here! (Yes, I realize I may be calling attention to the fact that I haven't blogged or read blogs in about a month. Sorry.)

I had similar chaos trying to get pics of Olive, the Other Reindeer again this year, when I had a genius idea... I made my first ever Christmas newsletter, using pics from throughout the year. And it turned out to be fantastic! Glad you had a fun time in the snow with the fam! :)

Meg looks super-duper cute in the snow. But I'm going to be laughing for days about your dog being in the witness protection program. Awesome!
