Beerds?

We recently got a new rug for Meg's room...Isn't it pretty? Don't you love it? Don't you look at it and wonder what the fuck those things are flying around the edges?

I know. We do too.

When I unrolled the rug yesterday Ryan commented on the pretty color, and how nice the texture is; and then said "what are those things above the flowers?"
"Birds," I replied.
"Those don't look like birds." He wrinkled his face and tried to cross his eyes to see it.
"Bees?" I didn't know, I was just trying to think of things that are normally around flowers, and they definitely didn't look like hippies.
"Bees aren't pink and green. And don't those things have webbed feet?" Oh, so now he's Darwin.
I fired back. "Look, this isn't a nature guide. I mean, even the flowers aren't accurate. How many flowers do you see that remind you of pink and red striped sex toys?"
He had nothing to say to that.

I won.

Now though, I can't look at the rug without still wondering what those flying things are, and feeling like I bought something slightly obscene for my baby's room.

Still, the green is nice.

I think it's a great rug, and I have to say they look like erm, erm....actually I don't know either, but it's a nice rug!

Hah! It's cute if you don't scrutinize it. The colors are beyond adorable.

Oh, I'm laughing! The rug is really pretty.
And I can't believe she's crawling! That's big. Soon she'll crawl across the room faster than you can walk! I used to raise my son and he always won.

Hmmm...they are...uh...mystical, magical, flying, imaginary duck/bird/bee creatures?

It's a cute rug :)

I'm pretty sure they're platypi. (Or would it be platipeese?)

Coincidentally, "Pink & Red Striped Sex Toy" was my nickname in college.

Instead of Mr Potato Heads they look like Mr Summer Squash Heads. With wings. And lube.

Good point. What the fuck *are* they?

They're actually a very rare sight in the insect world. The little known Lepidoptera Carrotus which loosely translated means 'flying carrot.' A wonder, indeed!

Dude. I got NOTHING. Really. But I love the rug. Even if it is kinda lewd.

Now that I'm not reading this on a Blackberry, it's very clear to me what these things are.

Flying sweet potatoes with wings and feet. Duh.

It's good for her budding imagination to figure out what those things are, I'm sure!

They DO look like sex toys! Though I never would have picked that up unless you pointed it out. Geesh girl get your mind out of the gutter!!! haha

I was leaning towards ducks at first (okay, I just started to type dicks - this rug is influential) but the lack of beak kind of screws up that idea. Hm. Weird.

Pretty rug!

They look like butterflies, or maybe some kind of hybrid bird-fly.

It's precious. And honestly, I'd rather have a rug that resembles sex toys but only to you than something that resembles nothing more than teddy bears or something. Sort of like the copper basket of veggies at my in-law's house that looks like a cock & balls (but only to me).

I think the webbed feet are actually antennae! :)
